Truthfully, Gone With The Wind could be used to teach the history of the Civil War. I feel as though I was right there in the South, admist all the fighting. I cannot imagine how in the world any writer can make that subject be one people would want to read, but Margaret Mitchell did it. Not only did she do it, but she did amazingly well. From page 1 you are given carte blanche to the Southern lifestyle, but in a way that is entertaining.
I have never once gotten bored or sick of reading anything in this book. In fact, by the time I was 1/2 way through the book, the war was over and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I am repeatedly amazed at how well Margaret Mitchell was able to combine true life events with fiction.
My husband has this coming week off from teaching, so I'm hoping to finish the book. It's been a long haul so far, and I wanted to give a little something to you about this incredible reading experience. I can't wait to share my thoughts on this phenomenal book with you. Please feel free to share your thoughts and feelings about this historic book- I would love to read them.

I intend to read this book this year - at last! My mom has been telling me to do so for years, saying it's a great read offering great details and entertainment. I see she is right! I can't wait to read this book myself. I'm glad you're enjoying it!
It's been a really good read, so far. I have less than 100 pages to go now. If you love historical fiction, you'll like this book. It's like you're right there in the middle of everything with the characters.
