I'm a HUGE fan of the movie You've Got Mail. I love that movie!!! Romance with books as a big aspect. Are you kidding me?! So imagine my surprise when I stumble upon this picture of an actual bookstore.Could it be?! Is this bookstore the same one used in the store? I have to say, the outside pretty much look the same to me. I sooo wish I could go to this store sometime. Guess what movie I'll be watching while I clean today?
it's such a good movie! perfect feel good pick. sadly, i was wrong. this bookstore isn't the one from the movie. looks pretty close, though, doesn't it?
It is is NYC and it was the inspiration for the movie. We went to piano lessons just a few blocks away and it was where we always went to get books for our summer reading lists. Because of this ...I HATED THAT MOVIE!!! I was SOOOOOO mad that the huge corporate chain won and that she ended up with him anyway!! After destroying such a magical place!! The man had more than enough money to keeo it going. A corporate love story. Blech!
Dee- I agree with you. I didn't like that the independant store was forced to close it's doors. so not a good message to put out there. Her store was distinctive and a hugepart of peoples' lives and it should have stayed open. He could've helped her do that. Still, I love looking at the books everywhere.
Thank you for visiting! We are cousins who LOVE reading. We love to share the books we read. We also love wine tasting, chocolate, & music. We are goof balls who have fun & look forward to sharing that fun with all of you!

Oh wow, this looks just like the bookstore in the movie! Maybe they DID use it in the movie.
Now I feel the urge to see the movie again.:)

It definitely looks like the movie bookstore. Do you know its location?
I think it's in New York, but I'mnot positive. So wish I could go there.
I've looked it up and it's in New York City on Madison Ave. Apparently it's very successful. I want to go visit someday!!
Thanks for the answer, Jen! If I ever visit NYC, this will be my first stop.:)
you're very welcome! I may have to stow away in your luggage for that trip, though. :)
